Your dishwasher can be your best friend in the kitchen or it can be your worst enemy. There is no worse feeling than loading up your dishwasher, letting it run through a cycle and then opening it to find that certain items haven't been washed correctly or they've come out look worse than when they went in. But fear not, here at Paul Davies Kitchens and Appliances in Manchester we are here to help! We've decided to pul together a quick little blog that will help make sure you're stacking your dishwasher in the right way. That way you can be sure that all your cooking equipment is cleaned to the highest standard.

The first place to start is loading the top tray. Think about all of your smaller pieces of equipment, cups, mugs, small bowls etc, and they can all be stacked at the top. Make sure that you don't overcrowd the top rack, make sure there's space in between each little piece so that the water can circulate. If you have any dishwasher safe plastics that you need washing, make sure they're placed on the top rack as well. Even though they might be labelled dishwasher safe, the plastic can still get warped from the high temperatures.

So it's time to move down to the bottom rack. This is where you'll be placing the heavier of your kitchen equipment. Anything over sized, like chopping boards, platters etc should be placed around the sides and towards the back so it doesn't block any of the water jets. Similar to the top rack, make sure that your plates, bowls, pots etc are placed with space around. You don't want anything overlapping on anything else and be aware of where the top jet arm is so that you're not blocking it from spinning during a wash.

When it comes to cutlery, you can mix it up. If you keep all the forks together, all the spoons together and so on, they can end up settling together and not getting washed properly. So it's worth mixing up your cutlery. And make sure to place your knives handle up so you don't cut yourself.
