So you're looking to upgrade your current kitchen appliances, and maybe you're thinking to buy kitchen appliances online, but how do you choose between gas and electric appliances? They both have their pros and cons, so it's worth taking the time to read about the differences so you can make the right choice for your home and your fitted kitchen.

One of the biggest differences is obviously the supply type. One runs off gas whereas the other runs off electricity. Some older properties may not have a sufficient gas supply which automatically rules out installing gas kitchen appliances. Every home has an electricity supply which makes it a lot easier to get the appliance installed and plugged in.

However, a downside of electric kitchen appliances is that they can sometimes be slightly more expensive than their gas counterparts. Normally it's not a huge change in price, but it's worth being aware that there can be a price difference. However, if you buy kitchen appliances for discount stores like ourselves here at Paul Davies, we're sure to be able to find something in your budget for either type of appliance.

As well as the price difference, there is also a slight price difference in the running costs. You'll need to do some more research and find out the energy prices with multiple suppliers. You'll then be able to make an informed choice on which appliances to choose and run.

Talking about energy and running your appliance, it's worth being aware that an electric appliance is a lot more energy efficient than gas. When running a gas hob, a lot of heat actually escapes around the outside of the pots and pans. But with an electric hob, it solely focuses the heat and energy to the bottom of the pan, making it warm up quicker and more effectively.
